Redevelopment of Kiribati Institure of Technology Campus - Stage 1
The Kiribati Ministry of Labour and Human Resource Development(MLHRD) is working with its Development Partners, DFAT – Australian Aid, in implementing a medium to long-term programme of investment in the education sector which aims to support the development of a highly skilled and effective workforce in Kiribati. The Program is known as the Kiribati Technical Vocational Education and Training Sector Strengthening Program (TVETSSP).
Scope Global Pty Ltd is the Managing Contractor for TVETSSP. One of the key strategic objectives of the Program is its support for the Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT), and the upgrade of the KIT campus and the development of new buildings and facilities on the site to enable the KIT to provide high quality courses and qualifications in a broad range of discipline areas for the people of Kiribati.
A&L have been appointed in early 2014 by Scope Global Pty Ltd to review contract documentation and manage the tender and construction of Stage 1 Works for the Redevelopment of the Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT) Campus.
Stage 1 Works include: extension of the existing Technology Block; construction of a new 2 storey Computer Laboratory Building; construction of a new 2 storey Business School Building; construction of a new Mwaneaba; and associated site works
The tender was awarded to Craig Construction Ltd in October 2014. A&L provided a full time site superintendent during construction which reached practical completion in February 2016. The project is now in the Defects Liability Period.
